BIG BREW 10

This Saturday, May 5th (Cinco de Mayo!), is National Homebrew Day. Also known as "BIG BREW" day, this is the 10th year that homebrewers in the US, and all over the world, will celebrate the wonderful craft of homebrewing. There is a worldwide toast at 11am (Noon Central, 10am Pacific, 6pm in London, etc.), which you can't miss out on if you're any kind of self respecting homebrewer. What's Brewin' is an official Big Brew site, we'll be toasting here at the shop at 11am, and then we'll commence with the brewin'. We will be brewing a 10 gallon all-grain batch out front, and we'll have some of our own brew on tap, so come and check it out if you aren't already brewing. Whatever you do this Saturday, make sure that you include brewing and homebrew in your plans. Check out www.beertown.org for more info or if you are interested in brewing one of the official Big Brew Day Recipes, or registering a Big Brew site of your own.

Store Hours Update for May

We will also be closed on Monday, May 28th, for Memorial Day. We apologize for any inconvenience that these changes may cause.

New Products

Now that we are in a bigger location, we can start expanding our product line, which was limited by the size of our last store. Over the course of the next year or so I plan to seriously expand our product line, but it will be a slow, gradual process. We definitely encourage suggestions and requests. Here's a list of the first new products we are carrying:

500ml & 1000ml Erlenmeyer Flasks

Just like in the lab! These borosilicate-type flasks can be transferred directly from the burner to an ice bath and will not crack. At just $7.00(500ml) and $10.00(1000ml), these beauties are perfect for making starters and culturing yeast.

1 Gallon Narrow-Mouth Glass Jugs (Clear)

You asked for them, now you've got it! By popular demand we have decided to start carrying One Gallon Jugs for all of your experimental, and small, batches. These puppies are going for $6.00 a piece or $20.00 for a case of 4.

Cobalt Blue Hock Style 750ml Wine Bottles

These are some nice looking bottles. If you are looking for a bottle for your mead or wine that stands out with a little more class, look no further. These are the kind of bottles you want to put your best work in, especially when you're bottling for gifts, or special events like a wedding. At $18.00 for a case of 12 bottles, why not treat you and your friends to the best.

Sake Kit

We had these briefly before we moved as kind of a trial of the product, and they were gone fast! Now they're back for good. If you were ever curious about making Sake, this is a great, easy way to get started. The kits are $20.00 and make 2 liters (or more), of delicious sake.

5 Star 5.2 pH Stabilizer

This is a really cool product. You can nearly instantly adjust your mash pH to the ideal 5.2 and it will hold for the entire duration of your mash. If you've done everything in your power and you still aren't getting the efficiency you want, this product is a great way to improve it. We have 4oz jars for just $7.00.

That's all for this update, don't forget to participate in Big Brew 10 in any way you can, and remember we are what's brewin'!
